Focus view

I've switched from Office 2004 to Office 2011. When I write Word documents I usually have it on Page Width for the largest format. With Focus View the Page Width is not as large as the 2004 version. Without enlarging the font every time to write a doc then changing it back to 12 point for printing, is there a way to enlarge the text? Thank you.

Kerry:

I always recommend "Draft View" for writing.

That's a simplified view that gets much of the formatting out of the way so you can concentrate on what you are writing.

Fonts and formatting are simplified, important things such as spaces and paragraph marks are enhanced.  It takes a little time to get used to it, but it is a view that is specifically developed for efficient writing.

It also saves a lot of battery power on a portable, and because it requires less CPU power, it speeds up Word and makes it much more responsive.

People who handle a lot of documents find that you cannot format the document until you have completed the content.  Because the best layout to emphasise the important content cannot be achieved until the content is there.  So best to use Draft View while you are creating, so you produce the best language possible: then go into Print Layout View and apply your styles to format it to present it in the most readable way.

Hope this helps

The issue at hand involves Focus View. As your screen shot clearly indicates, you're in Print Layout View. Controls are revealed at the top of the Focus View window when you move your pointer toward the top of the screen... Which controls are displayed is determined by whether you're using Read Mode or Write Mode. There is a zoom control in Focus view... why don't you use it? The entire screen can be filled from edge to edge.

    Will that solve your issue?

Thank you for taking the time to help.

Yes, that is what I've done. I guess I'm getting used to the text not being as large as the earlier version. But that's OK. Time to visit the optician! I'll play around until I find the best way to write my documents.

    Happy New Year.

What version are you Using?? My version of Office2011 (14.4.7) looks this way:

If I switch to Focus Mode there isa Totally Black Screen except for the Page There is no visible control and none can be bought up (for me). Its equivalent to Apple full screen without the ability to use the main menu by scrolling all the way to the top and unhiding.
