Getpivotdata not working

I am in Excel 2010 and I cannot get Getpivotdata to work at all. I have "Generate Getpivotdata checked". However, when I hit = and click on a cell in the pivot table, it only gives me the absolute reference (ex. = A1) instead of automatically showing the getpivotdata formula. Even when I try to type in a formula manually, I get the #ref error as if it is not recognizing the existence of my pivot table.

In the attached image, the table on the left is my data table, and the table on the right is my pivot table. As you can see, when I enter = and then click on a box in the pivot table, it doesn't automatically show me the getpivotdata function.

Any thoughts?
