Embed Powerpoint iFrame and API for controls

Microsoft offers a nice way to embed Powerpoint presentations with an iframe.

See: http://www.microsoft.com/web/solutions/powerpoint-embed.aspx

But I am missing a JavaScript API to control the slides.

Every embeddable player needs an API. It’s the bridge between your content and the web page you’re embedding it in, allowing them to function as a single, integrated unit. So the website can programmatically set the page/slide number for the embedded content.

It would be great to have an Javascript API to control the slides. That would enable huge possibilities like live presenting presentation, etc.

You could enable support HTML5's window.postMessage for communication between website and embedded iframe.

Cheers,

Philipp

    Philipp,

Did you finish this project? I'm really interested in this navigation functionality you're talking about.

And did you find anything about an API to do this navigation?

    Cheers,

    Bert

There is a javascript API for oneDrive applications - but so far i'v maanged only to get hold of pictures and stupid stuff like that. I'v also managed to get the info out of excel documents - which is a big plus for projects doing customized gui's for various sites that use onedrive as data source.

but i'v found nothing for ppt's - which would be a huge plus. maybe it's in there somewhere but i cant find it in the documentation anywhere.

i'll let u know if i find anything - do the same.

    Hello Tokoloshe99,

no I didn't get any answers.

I don't think microsoft developers will read this post either they can even realize that "massive value" behind that idea.

That's also a reason why people are switching from powerpoint to prezi, gdrive presentation, etc.

They are made for the web. They offer javascript apis.

    Cheers,

    Philipp

Hi Phillip - did u get an answer to this question?

i can see massive value being able to call powerpoint slides into web based apps from OneDrive and controlling it via the javascript API.

    Hello Philipp,

For assistance on JavaScript API to control the slides in the PowerPoint, your query would be better addressed in the PowerPoint IT Pro Forum link mentioned below:

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/officesetupdeployprevious/threads

    Thank you.
