Why does OneNote keep marking things as unread?

I am using OneNote from Office 365 midsize business. My notebooks sync to OneDrive and are not shared with anyone. I cannot figure out why pages in my notebooks randomly show up as unread (bold section tabs and highlighted page text), even stuff that is months old. I am the only one using these notebooks so nothing should ever show as unread, especially not items that are not new. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I did not find this under the "Review" tab in OneNote 2013.  I found it under History>Unread(group)>Mark as Read>Show Unread Changes in this Notebook.

On the Review tab of the Ribbon look for a setting to "Show Unread Changes in this Notebook".  Might be on the "Mark As Read" button.

This just started after years of use. I have tons of pages and they all look unread. Cntrl-Q will mark them as read. Can't be sure, but they might go back to unread again after reboot. 90% of them haven't been edited in quite a while...
