I am calm (ish!)
I have a simple password on my key accdb database. (not qwerty, but that simple!)
I can load the accdb, enter the password, and all works well. The password is fine. I can use the database as normal.
If I try publish a backup the database then access has suddenly started prompting for my password ... which I enter, then it prompts again, and again I answer, and it then displays the Save As dialogue box ... I click save ... and access asks for the password a third time ... and a fourth time .. before telling me that it is not a valid password!!!
It is a simple (superficial) password ... 5 characters ... and works on opening ... it only fails when backing up (and repairing).
As usual, the help file is less than explicit:
Not a valid password. (Error 3031)
You have typed an invalid password. Passwords can be any combination of 20 or fewer characters, except control characters. Passwords are case-sensitive.
OK.
So I try to remove the password.
Open with exclusive access ... password works fine ... file menu ... Info ... and the button reads 'Encrypt with password' (not 'remove password').
So it is showing that there is no password, despite correctly prompting for a password when opening.
QUESTION:
HOW CAN I REMOVE OR RESET THE PASSWORD?
Thanks.

i tried this - it is still asking for the password....ideas?
Thanks Ken ... I was about to export each object individually ...
All I now have to do is fix the references ... my VBA no longer compiles ... it does not seem to know about the Bookmark data type!
This is going to be the usual nightmare i suspect ... I cannot see the appropriate references in the lists ... I do not know which one will have Bookmark in it .... arrrggghhh!!!
But still you have saved me many hours of toil and panic ...
thank you.
One additional thought
I have just tried to Save the database as ... with the same result as above.
Load the db ...
Enter the password ...
See the data etc. as normal
File ... save as ...
Prompted for password ... save as box ... prompted again ... prompted again ... 'Not a valid password' ... prompted again .. back to my data ... with no copy saved.
This is the same as backup/repair ... double prompt ... save ... and invalid ... yet the password is valid enough to access the data!
