In the Add/Remove program the only thing I did find was microsoft office powerpoint viewer 2003. Did the windows Update (17) in all and found the 2003 update but after doing the rt click could not locate the Hide update.

Will remove the powerpoint viewer 2003 and will see what happens.

In the Add/Remove Programs dialogue, check what is shown for MS Office, see if there's a 2003 entry.

Run windows Update, in the list of available updates, locate the 2003 update, rt click>Hide Update

Thanks for your reply, I don't think I have any vestige of Office 2003 on my pc (what steps would I have to do to find this out). I have tried the manual update but it keeps coming back how and what steps are needed to hide this update.

Do you have any vestige of Office 2003 on your PC?

You can hide an update, if you manually run windows update, then hide that update
