Basic alignment management

I have seen lots of complaints about this .. but in the latest Visio 2013 Microsoft has continued to ignore users on this.

In Visio:

Aligning shapes is a frequent and basic function.  In fact probably one of the most used set of functions.

In 'the 'old days' (pre 2010) the buttons to align left/right/top/bottom were available as buttons that could be added to a the customisable ribbon.

This meant there was one action required to align.

Since 2010 the commands are not available in the long long list of available commands.  The outcome of this is that every alignment need to button presses and makes aligning very arduous.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can we have our alignment but available in the customisable ribbon commands.

I have to ask .. I do wonder whether the designers actually use Visio in anger as this is a glaring omission as alignment is a basic function.

I LOVE the new right dialog that appears for Format Shape .. PLEASE could we have the same for Alignment.

I look forward to hearing your comments.

Visio is the 'bees knees' .. but please listen to your users more.  I have used and developed in Microsoft for almost 30 years .. and a common complaint is that they feel like a black box with no interface.  This forum helps as long as I get to speak to someone in Microsoft that has power to make a difference.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one with this complaint. I use Visio on a daily basis and this has been frustrating me since I upgraded to the new version.

PLEASE MICROSOFT - LISTEN TO YOUR USERS AND BRING THIS FEATURE BACK!

We need the ability to quickly align OBJECTS - whoever made the decision to remove this feature and make users go through a drop down menu obviously does not use Visio.

Hi Dinesh .. you misread the question.

It is about alibging OBJECTS.  This fucntionaily WAS in Visio but has been taken out.

It sometime seems to me that Microsoft does not use their own tools.  What we are asking for is BASIC functionality.

I would be very happy to be a beta tester for you.

That's not what we need.  Those individual alignment buttons refer to the text within a box.  We want to be able to add the individual buttons to align the boxes themselves (with one click - not the dropdown) like we used to have until 2013.  Need all 8 to be productive (align top, middle, bottom, left, center, right.  Distribute horizontal, Vertical).

Please help.  I love Visio, but extra clicks are just wasted time and make me furious...

    Thanks

Hi Adam,  In Visio 2013, you can add these alignment buttons to Quick action toolbar.

To do this, click the down arrow button on the Quick Access toolbar on the top left of the title bar, select "More commands..." and  select the ribbon where these commands reside and then pick what you want to be added to Quick Access Toolbar.
