Whenever I download a new ppt and opens it, I receive an error message that says " We are sorry that something went wrong that make powerpoint unstable. Please save and restart." And the error message keeps popping up when I close it. When I click "Enable Editing", the error message goes away. Does anyone have the same problem and how do you prevent error message from popping up?

    Hello Rune,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Office Community.

I know how this concerns you, let me help you with this issue.

Let's disable Protected View options following steps mentioned and verify whether issue re-occurs.

    1. Open PowerPoint > File > Options > Trust Center.
    2. Trust Center Settings > Protected View > uncheck Enable Protected View for the files originating from the Internet, Enable Protected View for files located in potentially unsafe locations and Enable Protected View for Outlook attachments > OK and verify whether issue re-occurs

I look forward to your reply to assist you further.

    Thank you.

After download RIGHT click > Properties.

If there is an UNBLOCK button click it.

I started experiencing the same thing a couple weeks ago on my old (Win7) and my new (Win8.1) computer. (I use McAfee, but it does not help to disable the realtime protection).
