Earned Value - Negative ACWP for a complete task with cost resource only

I have a task that only has cost resource defined -- basically to track the occurrence of a large purchase.   It is well before the status date.  It has been marked 100% complete.  However, the ACWP is showing up as negative!  The figures are as below:

PV (BCWS) = $205.76

EV (BCWP) = $2,324,664.41  (this was also $205.76 until I used the option of EV based on physical % complete and marked the physical % complete as 100%)

AC (ACWP) = ($2,447,026.00)

Cost = $2,324,870.17

Actual Cost = $2,324,870.17

Baseline Cost = $2,324,664.41

Fixed Cost= ($2,447,026.00) (calculated internally by MSP)

How do I get the right numbers --- that is, PV=Baseline cost, and AC = Actual Cost?  As one can guess, the numbers as they are now render the EV graph totally useless with EV, PV, and AC lines going in totally different directions!

Cost resources don't figure into Earned value other than EAC and BAC.  In order for you to have BCWS you must have either work or material resource assigned.  So, how can you have only cost resources assigned but show a BCWS or BCWP.

    Sorry Sanjay - I don't have any additional information other than to suggest you create a very simple, 1 task project with only cost resources assigned.  Save a baseline and change status date and you will not see any BCWS nor BCWP values.  Project will use work resources, material resources, and fixed costs in calculation of Earned Value - just not cost resources.

    Julie, thanks for your response.  Got to admit that I didn't know that cost resources don't figure into EV calculations.   Perhaps I missed but I don't remember seeing this rather important information stated in any help screen or any online information on MSP2013 or in the MS Official Academic Course on MSP2013.   For further understanding, would you be able to point me to more information online on this?

    Trevor, I wish I knew.  It appears that when actual cost is entered in a task with only cost resources, the MSP sets the fixed cost as an equal negative amount.  In this particular case there is some difference in the value but the fixed cost is negative!

    The ACWP is negative because the Fixed Cost is negative. Why is the Fixed Cost negative?
