Excel Always Opens Maximized

For some reason, when I try to open existing documents, or create a new document by opening Excel, it's always Maximized.  If I click "Restore Down" it recalls the last window position and size.  Saving the document, and re-opening, it opens to Maximized again.

How can I get Excel documents to not default to Maximized state?

Word works just fine, as does PowerPoint.

Thanks!

This is not an answer.  I have a Dell with Intel graphics and Windows 8 and it always opens Office programs maximized.  I guess MS should rename their product "Window",  as they are trying everything possible to make multitasking difficult.

For other folks with the same issue, the answer is on the second page of responses on the link you supplied, Guruprasad.  I'll summarize here:

    1. The first recommendation (disable the AMD Hydra package as a service) -would- work, except that whenever AMD Catalyst Control Center (CCC) starts up (which by default it does), it automatically starts Hydra (by default).  MY Hydra was actually disabled as a service so luckily I looked at the second recommendation....
    2. Disable all Hydra features from within AMD CCC.  I simply went into HydraVision tab under CCC (which is usually floating around your Notification Area near the clock, if you don't have these icons hidden), and disable (uncheck) items like "Enable HydraGrid," "Enable Desktop Manager" and "Enable Multi Desktop."  I also went under the Maximize section and set each of the four shortcuts to Disabled, because I'm OCD like that.

    After a reboot, issue resolved.

    Thanks!

As an aside, I just tested my Office 2013 Excel on my work computer running Windows 7, and I don't have the same problem, but on my Windows 8.1 system, Excel opens Maximized each time. Curious.
