Office 2013 Cursor problems

I installed Office 2013 on a Windows 7 64 bit laptop and suddenly my cursor started jumping all over the place and auto selecting and moving things.  I read several forums and didn't find a solution.  I tried Touchfreeze and that didn't work.  The problem really seemed to start as soon as I opened an Office product like Excel or Word.  Then it's like I'm always clicking the left mouse button.  Things are auto-double clicked as you move the cursor over them.  Made it very difficult to even shut the pc down.  I tried replacing the mouse.  I cleaned the touch pad.  I don't think it's the touch pad because the laptop is closed in a docking station and I'm using an external mouse and keyboard.  I was ready to change computers and then just decided to uninstall Office 2013 and re-install 2010.  Problem solved.  Except, I want to use Office 2013.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You are not the only person, I am trying to support users who design charts linked w/ excel and they are also complaining about the errant "cursor". This issue did not occur in Office 2010. The users also have laptops docked in office and take laptops home.  Please advise, modifications to office animations did not help

Well, please disregard my previous post.  My cursor started jumping and selecting with Office 2010 just now.  So it's probably not an Office 2013 problem.  Other posts suggest problems with the touchpad, so I've disabled that to see if the problem is resolved.  Sorry for wasting your time.

Neither of these articles describe the problem I am having.   The Office programs start up just fine.  The problem is the pointer having a mind of it's own.  It sounds like nobody else is having this problem.  I don't have time to troubleshoot why Office 2013 is causing problems on my system.  I was hoping you would have a fix.  I'll just continue using 2010 until there is a solution out there.  Thanks anyway.

    Hi Jeff,

You may try the steps mentioned in the following link and check if it helps:

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/support/why-cant-i-start-my-office-2013-application-HA104011864.aspX

If the above steps fail, you may start the computer in clean boot mode this would disable all the non-Microsoft applications and the antivirus which could be one of reason for the issue.

Refer the article below to start the computer in clean boot:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Ensure to restart the computer in normal mode after completing the troubleshooting steps.

I hope it helps. Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Thank you.
