I have struggled severely with using word and excel for mac when turning in school projects.  There seems to be very little support for mac users.  For example, no view tab in excel.  Well, through trial and error, I have found that when using mac, some of your options are actually at the top of your screen toolbar instead of in the actual excel window.  It is the same toolbar you would use if you were in Safari for example.  File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Window, Help.  Hope this helps someone.

    Are referring to Sheet Tabs?:

Or are referring how to access (open Files) from within Excel Mac?

    To open files with Mac:

    1. Click on File menu

    2. OR for sheet tab at lower left.:

Click Bar next to the Bottom Slider, pull to right.

In addition to Phillip's suggestion, the Mac version Excel has a customize menus and toolbars feature not found on Excel for Windows. You can make a toolbar that has just the commands you want, similar in a way to the Quick Access Toolbar in Windows.
