I am having trouble activate Office 365 which i purchased at a store. I open Office on my computer and it gives me the options: Buy, Activate and Try.  I click Activate and I enter my product key and then it takes my to the office online website where it asks me to enter my product key again which I do and then it takes me to a page the says:

Office isn’t associated with this account.

  • If you’ve already activated Office, sign out and then sign in with the Microsoft account you used to activate Office.
  • If you have Office but haven’t activated it, you can use your product key to activate. Activate Office now
  • If you don’t have Office, you can buy it in the Office store.

I click the link to activate Office now but it just takes me in circles (sometimes it says install office beside my user name at the top of the screen but it takes me to the same page as above)

I am almost positive that it is office 365 university and yes it came preinstalled. How would I go about associating it with my microsoft account?

    Hello Laura,

    1. Had you purchase Office 365 University separately or it was installed when you purchased the computer?
    2. If yes, how did you verify the Office 365 University product?
    3. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and check which Office suite is listed.
    4. Which product key are you entering to activate Office 365 subscription?

It seems like the Office 365 trial was preinstalled on the computer when purchased and you’re trying to activate it.

So please do provide us the detailed information of Office 365 product in case is you have purchased it separately.

    Thank you.

I recently bought a new computer and a new subscription to Office. I have been trying to install this on my computer for over an hour and I continue to get the run around. First, an article on her was commented on by someone at Microsoft and I followed his instructions to Uninstall Word from my computer. I did this and have attempted SEVERAL times to get this installed/downloaded. I have had no luck. Please help! I have a paper due on Thursday that I have been trying to get done but have not been able to due to trying to get this on to my new computer. I appreciate any help!!!!!!

    Thanks!

    Hello Laura,

As per the description provided, you’re having trouble activating the Office 365 product.

To help you better, we need few details about the issue.

    1. Which Office 365 product have you purchased?
    2. Which Office product is pre-installed on the computer?
    3. Did you associate the product key with the Microsoft Account?

If you have any trial subscription installed on the computer then run the fixit available in the link given below to remove the traces.

Once done, refer to the section ‘I bought a subscription to Office 365 Home or Office 365 Personal’ in the article given below which provides information on how to install Office.

You can go to www.office.com/setup then make sure that your email add is not assciated with other office subscription.

Or better contct Microsoft office phone support to check if the product key has been redeemed by other user.
