Will this feature ever be put back? We relied on it heavily in PowerPoint 2007 and now it seems missing from versions 2010 and 2013 as well!
The solution of putting it as a picture is not really helpful when the embedded object is a changing excel or word table.

In the meantime you might want to try the free AddIn here

It is completely free but there is no support.
