Formatting problems when sharing documents with co-workers

When I create documents in our organizations template on my Microsoft office, save, and then send to a co-worker, the formatting changes for them. Content that fit on one page for me, shows up as 2 pages for them. Likewise, when they send me a multipage document, when I open it up, content that should be at the top of page 2 shows up at the bottom of page 1 for me.

We use a mix of Macs and PCs in the office, and noone else seems to have this problem when they share documents.

Any guidance or ideas would be much appreciated.

Further to what has been suggested, use the procedure described here to clear up any font issues (Validate & Resolve Duplicates) on your Mac: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH5958

Another possible factor is a difference in the installed printers on the respective systems... Word uses printer metrics to compose pages (especially influential on pagination in Print Layout View).

Make sure your printer driver is fully updated -- check the mfr's web site. Also, if using network printers confirm that you have the same version of the network printer driver(s) as what the other Mac users have installed.

Phillip is right, Lizzie. I've experienced reflow problems and extra pages when viewing the same document in two identical Macs. It turned out they had different versions of Arial.

Are you using a Font that they have on their computer. As long as your using the same version of font they are and the screen size is the same It should show the same.

I don't know whether this still applies - it did long ago. Macs were based on 72 dpi (dots per inch) video system and PC used 96 dpi and therefore Fonts were drawn differently. which would throw off layout.

Today as long as the screen size is the same and and your using the same font  should have no issues.

Try using one of the Fonts that come with Office. And see if it works out better.
