Error Code 0x80000008

While using Word, it crashed on me and is now telling me "Error Code 0x80000008" every time I try to log back in. I've had Office for about 14 months now. I've tried disabling 2 factor authentication on my account, I've tried changing my password, and I've checked to make sure my system language is English and the region is the US. Has anyone found a method to fix this problem?

Do you see this issue when launching any other Office applications such as Excel or PowerPoint? If not, then we know we need to troubleshoot Word and its preferences. Otherwise, we need to troubleshoot Office 365.

If you’re unable to activate any part of Office then log in to Office 365 online and ensure you haven’t exceeded your installed computers limit. If you see “ghost” computers (the same computer multiple times) then deactivate all the computers in the website. Return to Office for Mac on your computer and try activating again.

Finally, I suggest that you contact the Office Installation and Activation Support team if you continue experiencing activation issues:

    Hope this helps!

It required a full uninstall and new install.

    Fixed the MS glitch.

This issue is STILL around on 27 Dec 2014.  There is NO clear fix for this,

    Error code:0x80000008

that MS have described.  I have tried Region and double authentication in the Outlook-Live-Office365 log-in .

THIS PROBLEM HAS SHOWN UP FOR OVER 6 MONTHS.

    WHAT TO DO????

    1. Have you Repaired Permissions (Disk Utility located in Utilities Directory)
    2. Have you Run FontBook to see if you have Duplicate or Defective (look on Page two of this Website: http://www.phillipjones-cet.net/
    3. Page have you located the Normal.dotm Template in the Templates Directory?(user/library/Application Support/Microsoft/Templates)
    4. Remove the Normal.dotm file to desktop.
    5. Restart Word, See if that allows Word to Work

    To go to User Library:

    • Quit Word
    • then from Finder
    • then hold down option key,
    • click on the Go menu
    • Click Library

Continue to Template folder as described above.

    Follow rest of directions.

Since you have exhausted with the steps. I suggest you contact Microsoft Office Support over the Phone and check if they could help resolve the issue.
