Phantom crosshatching

Phantom crosshatching suddently appeared on my MS Word documents!  It is not a watermark, it is not a background fill.

I notice that the cross hatching lines up with the margin marker not the indent marker; I notice also that the image fits within the margins on all sides of the document except on the bottom edge.  There it seems to be cut off.  Perhaps most importantly, the image does not print out on the finished document..

Thanks so much!!!

Activate the View tab of the ribbon, and clear the Gridlines check box.

If you are in a corporate situation and the settings are locked this probably won't work, but it is worth a try. Try resetting your options by deleting the appropriate registry key and letting Word regenerate them

How to reset user options and registry settings in Word 2000-2013

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822005/en-us

This article is very thorough. Most people can skip the first section about the Registry and move down to the middle of the article to the “Repair Word (Office)” section. There are 3 “repair techniques listed.

Is this a corporate computer? If so, the IT department may have disabled these options...

    Otherwise, I wouldn't know.

MIGHTY MIGHTY helpful!  Thanks so much HansV.... but one more problem... The ribbon view setting are locked; they won't allow me to change them.  (I know I could study this a bit longer myself to resolve the problem, but NOW YOU HAVE SPOILED ME!!!).
