Hi Rooney,

As per the issue description you are unable to install Office 2010 program on the computer and receive an error message while installing it.

I would need more information on the issue:

  1. What suite of Office 2010 program are you trying to install (Home and Student, Home and Business, Professional etc.)?
  2. Do you have the disk to install Office 2010 program or are you trying to download it and install it on the computer?

Follow the steps mentioned and check if it helps:

Step 1: Uninstall Office completely from the system and then try to re-install it:

Uninstall the traces of Office 2010 program installed on the computer due to previous failed installations and then try to install Office program and check. Refer to the link mentioned and check the section Uninstall Office automatically using a fixit and check:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/support/how-to-uninstall-or-remove-microsoft-office-2010-suites-HA104027750.aspx

Note: If you are using a 64-bit operating system, save the fixit tool on the system and then run it from the saved location.

Once the uninstallation is complete, reboot the system and install Office 2010 program.

Step 2: Boot the system in clean boot:

Clean boot is performed to disable all startup programs and 3rd party services on the machine and check if they are conflicting with the Office program.

Refer to the link mentioned to boot the system in clean boot:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After installing Office in clean boot ensure to reboot the system in normal mode which is explained in the same article.

Step 3: Stop the print spooler service:

·         Click Start > Run, type services.msc, and then click Ok.

·         Look through the list of services, find Print Spooler, and open it.

·         Tap or click Stop, and then tap or click OK.

·         Try installing Office.

·         Once Office is installed on your PC, go back to the list of services and open Print Spooler.

·         Tap or click Start, and then tap or click OK.

I hope the above suggestion helps. Let us know if you need any further assistance.

Thank you.
