Mirrored view distorted on second screen

I work at a software tech company and we have a lot of Macs running PowerPoint 2011.  On some of these computers, when we hook to a second monitor and choose to use the Mirrored slideshow option, our monitor display is too large/distorted and hangs off the right side of the screen.  This happens on the same computer with different monitors/projectors, and so far, I've only recreated it in 10.7 and 10.8 (not 10.6).

Of course we can just run in Presenterview, or mirror our entire desktop, but I'm trying to find out if this a known issue, or do we have some kind of resolution setting creating this problem?  We've compared computers that were doing it to computers that weren't and can't find anything that could be causing this.  I'd like to have a suggestion for our clients who may also run into the same problem.  Help!?

Thanks, Rich.  We figured we'd end up logging a ticket with Microsoft, but wanted to try to solve it on our own first.  I appreciate the help.  Guess it's time to have the developer log that issue.  Thanks!

Personally, I'd report it to Microsoft via PowerPoint > Help > Send Feedback.

If you have traced the issue down to a problem with OS X Lion and Mountain Lion than I would say it is something the development team needs to check into and let them argue with Apple about the changes they are implementing without coordinating with primary vendors.

Is your Office for Mac up to date. The latest is 14.3.4

I don't think if there is a setting in PowerPoint.
