Check boxes linked to date & time fields

I have a document which contains many checkboxes, however I require one particular checkbox to insert an automatic current date and current time if the box is checked. I have no idea how to go about it.

    Further to...I'm using MS 2010 and the document will be a template

    Does "MS 2010" mean Microsoft Office, specifically Word?
