Microsoft Project - Dates do not match task duration

I am using MS Project 2013 and have created an "onsite" work calendar for a 6 day work week.  I have assigned this calendar to a task and have input a duration of 2 days for the task.  It starts on 7-17-14 and should end on 7-18-14 (2 days of work), but my project shows it going from 7-17-14 to 7-19-14 (3 days).  I tried the AutoSchedule, checked predecessors, etc. but I can't figure out why it will not show the correct dates.  Any suggestions?  Thank you in advance!

    Jan,

Never mind, I figured it out.  FYI, the task predecessor was encroaching on the start date for the task in question.  I had to adjust the predecessor completion time slightly to allow for the task to start on time, and thus end on time.

    Thanks

    Hello,

Project does not use the unit "day" in iTS calculations. Instead, it immediately converts days into hours' This conversion is not basd on any Calendar but on the "Hours per day" value which you can find in the S chedule options! Had you input 12 h as duration you would have seen the desiree 'result.

    Greetings,

    Jan,

I reviewed your answer and checked the "hours per day" under the schedule options - which was and still is 8 hours per day.  The onsite calendar I have assigned to this task also has 8 hours of work per day.  This being said, a task duration of 2 days would equal 16 hours of work and thus 2 days on the calendar, but it still shows 3.  Had I input 12 hours as the duration, it would not be the required 2 days as needed, thus not an accurate assumption for the schedule I am trying to compose.  Any other ideas as to why it still shows 3 days on the schedule?

    Thanks!
