import excel data into project . source worksheet name Out of context message

We are using MS Project 2007 with SP3.

There are 3 of us that have the same MS Project 2007 with Sp3 and the same Options settings including the security one with "Allow loading files with legacy or non default file formats".

We have an excel file that we try and import into project with the same named worksheet name of workfile.

Two of us are getting "OUT OF CONTEXT workfile" on source worksheet name when we get to the Append in the wizard import process.

i am the only one that can run this going through the wizard when I get to the append in the wizard import process in MS Project yet our MS Project option settings are identical.

Does anyone know what the issue is and what we are missing here so we can get by this?

Thanks,

Are you saying the Excel file is Excel 5.0?  And you all have the option to allow loading legacy files selected?

What do you mean a "slightly different MS Project version"?  Is one Pro and another standard?

We are on a slightly different MS Project version but the same SP3. I have the most recent one.

The bottom line issue is that my version of MS Project will allow the importing of Microsoft excel 5.0/95 Workbook (*.x ls) and theirs will not. I am guessing, there must have been a patch that allows it on the more updated version that I have. That 5.0/95 excel file can NOT be converted to another version of excel as it will NOT work on my machine or theirs so converting the file was not the answer.

Sorry for the delay.  I'm am out of ideas here.  If you are all running Project 2007 SP-3 the file should open as expected either for all or none.  Are you are using the same version and SP of Excel?

I'm guessing the file is stored on a networked drive?

    Hi

Yes. We are all using the same operating system. Windows 7. Same MS Project 2007 and same SP3.

I can open the excel file through the import while 2 others can not. When I get to the append in the import wizard it recognizes the worksheet NCMMIs and ALL the fields and imports it into MS Project 2007 just fine.

The worksheet name is NCMMIS and that is it. there are no special characters or spaces or anything else it is just 1 word.

Person 1 - On her old machine she has MS Project 2007 and SP2 and she can open the file and all the fields show and the excel file can be imported. It is also windows 7. The only difference is SP2 vs SP3.

On her new machine, same operating system, same MS Project 2007 but with SP3 she can not even open the file on the import wizard.

When she gets to the point of the "Append" it comes back with the message "Out of context NCMMIS.

     Import Wizard - task mapping

Source worksheet name: OUT of Context: NCMMIS

also it list ALL fields as out of context

    Person 2

                     Import Wizard - task mapping

                    Source worksheet name: NCMMIS

Verify or edit how you want to map the data

from: excel field                           to: Micorsoft office project field       data type

out of context: Unique_ID                          Unique ID

                _Build_UID                                                 _Build UID                                text

                 Build_Plan                                                Build/Plan                                 text

                 Baseline_Start                                          Baseline Start                            text

                out of context:Baseline_Finish                     Baseline Finish

                out of context:Baseline_Duration                Baseline Duration

                 _Start                                                     _Start

                out of context:_Finish                                _Finish

    Thoughts?

    Thanks

Does the Excel worksheet name have spaces or characters others than Letters and Numbers in the file?

Am I correct in reading that you CAN open the file while 2 others cannot?

Are you all running the same OS?
