Hi,

I am trying to do a pretty straingh forward document in excel, but when I insert hyperlinks to my worcksheet, it says: "cannot open the specified file".

More details: the file that is linked is an outlook e-mail that I saved on my computer (not on the network) I tried multiple location to save the file (on the desktop, in my documents), I also tried saving other e-mails to test if the file was corrupted but no luck, the pop up always shows and I can't open the e-mail from the hyperlink.

I tried the same process on other computers at work and it works fine. It also worked fine on my computer until now. I repaired office 2010 and restarted my computer and it still does not work.

Any idea on how to fix this?

K.

    Hello,

I can understand how it feels when Excel application does not work as expected.

Do you find this issue with a specific Excel file?

How is the file linked? Is it using ‘=hyperlink’ or insert as an object then link to file?

This issue may occur when the file name of the Excel workbook to that you are trying to create the hyperlink to or the bookmark contains the following character ({),(}),#

I hope the above information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Thank you.
