Hi. I added two data items to my master shapes so that I can number each item in a process flow and add some additional information that I don't want cluttering my process diagrams, perhaps a reference to a business rule, or reference to desk procedures. I export this shape data from the diagram to excel to print it out.
My problem started occuring today, after several months of using shape data this way. all of the sudden, if I click in the 'description' shape data item that I've created, I have a limited amount of time to type - mayb 20 seconds, before the field clears itself. undo doesn't work to restore any data that had been there previously. I'm afraid I'm going to have to abandon my whole methodology because Visio has determined that I type too slow for its taste.

hurrumph. not sure if this is good or bad. It's great if stays consistent. As of today, I cannot replicate the behavior. Lets hope it stays that way! Thanks for your offer of support Sudeep!
Is it specific to some particular shape or for all the shapes? Only for shape data window or for all the text boxes in Visio? Did you install any new add-in etc.?
