How do I move a bunch of shapes created in Word 2013 onto a Drawing Canvas? I have a bunch of shapes and don't want to have to created them again so I can put them on a canvas so connectors will work.

Thanks

Gordon

You can select and cut all of the shapes and then paste into a drawing canvas.

To select all of the shapes: On the Home tab, click Select, and then click Selection Pane. Hold the Ctrl key as you click each shape; this will select them all.

Using CTRL allows you to select multiple shapes\objects\words individually; SHIFT allows you to select all of the shapes\objects\words in a range.

Thanks Stefan. I would correct one thing and that is that the key to select multiple items in Word is Shift rather than Control. I don't know why they wouldn't stick with the standard that is used everywhere else, but that seems to be the way of things of late.

That's what I thought and have been using for 20 years!

I figured out why it's acting strangely.

I have several rounded boxes with text. If I click one, then hold Ctrl and click another, it deselects the first which is why I mentioned it. I just found that if I carefully click on edge of the shape rather than in the middle of it, it multi-selects correctly.

I just tested and it looks like it's changed in 2013. 2010 seems to select when clicking in the middle of the object, 2013 needs the click on an edge.

    Regards

    Gordon
