Excel 2013: Unexpected Error "COM target does not implement IDispatch"

Office365ProPlus x64 on Win8.1, some elements of Office2010Pro are installed in parallel. PowerView is activated, latest Power Query installed.

Error appears if run new Excel instance by clicking in Win Explorer on any existing  excel file. No such error if open Excel first with blank workbook, and click on the file after that, or Open the file from Excel. No error as well if open the file by Excel from command line (c:\program files...\excel.exe filename.xlsx). No such errors with other Office applications (e.g. Word).

Just in case, that is repost from Office365 community.

Any ideas how to fix?

Thank you

    Hi Raju,

Thank you, but afraid that's not my case. *.xlsx files are associated with Excel (and I updated again through Default Programs - shift on Notepad and after that back on Excel). Such files are opened by Excel, no problem with this. When opened, IDispatch error appears. Error continues for every change within Excel sheet and on closing. And that's only if the file is opened from explorer through association plus if no other workbooks are opened at this time. No problems in all other cases.

    Regards,

    Sergei

    Hello Sergei,

You may set the default program and file association for Excel using the following link and verify the status.
