background gradient affect doesn't show ...

I'm using Publisher 2010. I have a two-color gradient background with horizontal variant.

Why doesn't the currently used background gradient effect show when going back into Page Design, Background, More Backgrounds?

Hi, David! Thanks for your time and reply!

    Let me rephrase....

I'm using Publisher 2010. I created a business card and added two-color gradient background with horizontal variant using Page Design, Background, More Backgrounds.

When I go back in to modify this background (change color type of gradient, etc.) I do not see the current background settings on the Fill Effects window.

Hope this helps clear up the question.

Ok, now I understand your question.

I am afraid this is 'by design'. I looked at Pub 2007 and 2003 and they work the same way. I guess MS expects you to just create a new background rather than edit the old, but it would be nice to know the colors that you used before so you could apply them to a new publication.

Sorry I don't have a better answer. Maybe someone else will.

Are you asking why you cannot create a particular gradient background that you used in an older version of Publisher? Perhaps you are asking why MS dropped that gradient from the preset colors list? If so, there is no good answer. MS simply drops some old and adds new to each new version of Publisher and sometimes there is no rhyme or reason for it.

Perhaps you can create a template page with that color gradient combination in the older version of Publisher or from a file that you built that has the preferred gradient, and use that to build your new publications.

If I missed the point then post back and clarify your question.
