Error! Not a valid embedded object.

I have a large report (12mb) in Word 2011 that I review each year, updating the graphs and text. Many of the graphs are produced in Graph, in the background of Word.

Now many graphs either appear fuzzy on the screen page (they print OK).  More critically, later graphs do not appear at all. The data is still there in Graph, but when I go to Graph, and then quit (which should display the graph in Word) I get this message:

Error! Not a valid embedded object.

I have 4gb or Ram and the system tells me I have 2gb spare when running this document.

Any help much appreciated. I have to get this report out and don’t have time to start afresh!

Is this an issue with New documents as well?

Do you have retina display monitor?

If so, check these links below:

Make sure Office for Mac 2011 is up-to-date:

If its an issue with one document, remove and re-add the graphs.
