I have ppt 2010 and I am trying to place an audio clip behind a picture and play it throughout the slideshow.  My problem is that the audio needs to be optimized but I keep getting the message "these media files cannot be optimized" file unsupported.  I have converted the file to mp3 and to wma tried other audio files and even tried opening a new presentation, nothing works.  I need help!  The audio works fine otherwise in the presentation and have done many other presentations before with the same audio and saved them as video, now all of a sudden it doesn't work anymore.

Thanks so much for replying.  I will try the encoder and see what happens, but I have converted the audio a few times and still the same thing.  What gets me is that I have a folder with the audio in it and it has may 50 of them.  I have used the first 14 already in powerpoint 2010 and had no problem then all of a sudden I get this message.  Nothing changed (that I can recall).

I've also added other audio files everything does the same thing.

    I'll try encoding.

    Hi Raquel,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft Communities. I appreciate your interest in posting your query.

The issue may arise if the audio files have a high bit-rate, so it cannot be compressed or optimized. I suggest you to work around and convert the audio file to a lower bit-rate and check if it helps.

Also, try adding some other audio files into your presentation and verify the results.

How to optimize the media in your presentation:

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/powerpoint-help/optimize-the-media-in-your-presentation-for-compatibility-HA010382169.aspx

Note: The Optimize button may not be enabled if the media is already optimized.

Refer the article below for compatible audio formats in PowerPoint 2010:

Let us know the concerns over the issue to assist you better.

    Thank you.
