Hello Gregory,

The specified error could occur due to multiple reasons as mentioned below.

Corrupt Office installation, Firewall, Anti-virus program or internet connectivity.

Let's try resolving this issue by following steps mentioned below and verify the result.

1) Run 'Fix it' from the following article to remove the traces of existing Office installation.

Note: Save the ‘Fix it’ before running it if you’re working on a 64 bit Windows.

  1. Now try re-installing the Office suite and verify the result.

    2. How did you uninstall the Office suite? Is it from Control Panel> Programs and Featuresor by running Fix itfrom KB 2739501?

    I did the uninstall but now cannot reinstall.  Get error messages.

    I click on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501 attempt the 'Fix It' you are talking about and the article does not work. It states that I am not signed in, but I am.
