Format issues with Project 2013

Please help with Project 2013 issue with formating bars. With previous versions I could highlight all the tasks in the task column and format all the bars to show the bar ID. With 2013 when doing this only the bards visible on the screen have the ID added. Then when I scroll down and try to add the ID to these bars it looses those previously marked with the ID. Similar issues with formating bar style and colours. The only was I can find around this problem is to change each task individually. On a large programme this takes ages.

Because you manually applied formatting to some or all of the Gantt bars, your manual settings will override the settings I had you try in the Bar Styles dialog.  To fix the problem, try this with the Gantt Chart view applied:

    1. Click the Task tab to display the Task ribbon.
    2. Click the Gantt Chart pick list button and select the Reset to Default item on the menu.
    3. When prompted to reset the Gantt Chart view, click the Yes button.

Completing the preceding set of steps will reset the Gantt Chart settings to their default.  Now, you should be able to use the Bar Styles dialog to format the Gantt bars the way you want for every task.  Hope this helps.

Double-click anywhere in the white part of the Gantt Chart pane to display the Bar Styles dialog.  Using this dialog, you can format all Gantt bars of a particular type simultaneously.  Select the Task item in the first row, and then click the Text tab in the lower left corner of the dialog.  In the Text section, you can display the ID number of each task to the left, right, top, bottom, or middle of the Gantt bars.  Hope this helps.

    Dale,

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I have tried this but it doesn't fix the problem.
