Font selecting problems

Hi,

I was looking for solution and many other user had same problem, but I have never found any solution. I'm using Publisher 2013, but it seems that problem occurs to older versions too.

So what’s the problem: I’m not able to apply some fonts on selected text. When I choose not-working font from the dropdown list, nothing happens or, even worse, it uses completely different font (probably Courier New, case of some custom fonts). Problem doesn’t occurs to all fonts, but most of them. The most of custom font are also unusable.

I’d be thankful for any helpful answer.

That thread is probably listed under my profile, because I marked it as “I have same question”.

    Repairing office hasn't helped.

I have explored interesting thing: When I choose blank publication of any size or some older template (from ancient versions of publihser - according to their look), problem appears, but when I choose some modern template (probably added in 2010 or 2013 version), all fonts are working.

EDIT: I have just found out that all templates are working correctly, not just new ones.

Maybe it could be usable but clumsy workaround - open the template, remove whole content and start working with it like with a blank document, but if you find better solution, I'd be thankful.

Did you try a different printer as was suggested the first time you asked this question? http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-office_other/custom-font-doesnt-work-in-publisher-2010/45d49c97-00cd-4eee-ba5c-63442c7a89d8

I would suggest that you go back and answer Shashirekha rather than start a new thread. The best way to get assistance in this forum is to answer the questions from those trying to help you. Plus be sure you provide accurate details. Last time you said you were using Pub 2010. Which version are you using?

You are wrong; user you are talking about isn’t me, it’s someone else who has same problem as me (As I mentioned). This is first time I have asked this question.

I already tried suggested solution - setting default printer to Microsoft XPS. No effect.

“File > Options > Advanced and unchecking 'Automatically substitute font for missing East Asian characters'.” No effect.

“This suggests that perhaps your font is not compatible with Publisher”. 80% of all system fonts not supported by Publisher 2013? That would be weird.

Unfortunately, no of your suggestions solves the problem, but thanks for your help.

Interesting. That thread is listed under your profile: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/profile/93487e1f-3810-4acd-aa3b-9103bfdbc0ef but whatever...

You aren't editing a web publication created in a previous version of Publisher are you? There are limited number of web 'safe' fonts.

You could try repairing Publisher. Uninstalling and reinstalling won't likely gain you anything.

    Reference: Repair Office 2010 or 2013: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project-help/repair-or-remove-office-2010-HA010357402.aspx

Other than that I have no idea of what the solution is.

In the meantime you could try going to File > Options > Advanced and unchecking 'Automatically substitute font for missing East Asian characters' and see if that makes any difference. See for more info: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher-help/substitute-the-missing-fonts-in-your-publication-HA101818813.aspx?CTT=1

This suggests that perhaps your font is not compatible with Publisher: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher-help/embed-fonts-in-a-publication-to-ensure-their-availability-HA101818812.aspx?CTT=1  and this: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher-help/about-font-license-restrictions-HP005258999.aspx?CTT=1
