Scroll Bar in vlookup function

I was recently upgraded to Excel 2013, and have noticed that when entering the Table_Array in a vlookup formula I can no longer use the vertical scroll bar to quickly make my array selection. I can only hit the down arrow - very slow when I have thousands of rows. Is there a solution for this?

This issue has become really noticeable within the last few weeks.

No changes were made to my program or laptop

    I am using Excel 2016

The only trouble shooting I could think of is resorting my worksheet so that there were no empty cells, then I was use my array effectively. But I never had to do this work around before.

Holding SHIFT Ctrl and then using the wheel doesn't work at all

Only happens when I use a vlookup function

Let me know what you think could be the reason, thanks!

What was the solution to this? I have the same problem with my vlookups. I have way too much data to use to the arrow keys. I can use a work around by resorting my column so that there are no empty cells (which is what makes using the arrow keys not practical) but I shouldn't have to do this. There needs to be a real solution. Thank you.

    Hi Jeff,

Yes the scroll bar in picture 1. It seems to only happen with vlookup. Say in my vlookup formula I want to select $A$2:$Z$8000 as my Table_Array, in older versions of Excel I was able to select A2, use the scroll bar to move to Z8000 and shift-select my array. Now, in Excel 2013 the scroll bar doesn't move, so I have to use the scroll arrows (wait wait wait) or try and remember what my last cell is.

As far as other functions, I tried using the scroll bar to select my array in sumproduct and it worked just fine.
