Hello Microsoft Community,

I was on the last step to finish my text when a strange bug appeared. My automatic legends that were in the text turned the images that they were refered after I saved as pdf, and I don't know why, both the pdf and docx file changed. May you people help me?

When you insert a caption (legend), it should be in its own paragraph.  Otherwise the caption will include the image, as will the cross reference. Line breaks do not count as paragraph enders.

Click the  ¶ on the home tab so you can see the formatting marks.  Make sure each in-line image is sitting on a paragraph mark.  Type another paragraph mark—if an empty one is not already there—and insert your caption label and number then your caption text.  You'll have to recreate your cross references to get rid of the images inside them.

Well, they are jpg images and I use the command insert legend to create cross-ref. The references of those image in the text are transforming in copies of the original picture.

When you print (even to PDF), fields are updated. A caption (which I think is what you're referring to as a "legend") is a field. Are you saying that images were rotated or possibly that they appeared in places where you had cross-references to the captions? If the latter, see http://www.thedoctools.com/index.php?show=wt_cross-reference_trouble.

    Not sure I understand.

Automatic Legends = Headers and Footers?

Turned the images = rotated the images? By how far?

What was the source of the images? Computer file? Screen shot?

Type of image file? BMP? JPG? PNG?

Did this change only on this particular Word doc and PDF file?

Can you create a new doc and check if the issue persists?

Also provide the detailed steps so that we can also check on our machines.
