I have an Office 365 University program.  I am running an HP TS 15 Windows 8.  Whenever I open a Word document, I first get a message that the Macros are disabled, and then the above compile error messages comes up.  I haven't seen any explanation from MS regarding how to fix it. The Mr Fixit application says it doesn't apply to my computer.   Does anyone have any suggestions?

Paul, are you using SDL Trados for translations? If so, read the thread at

http://pol.proz.com/forum/sdl_trados_support/222565-word_experienced_a_serious_problem_with_multiterm8dotm_studio_2011_user.html

Read the whole thread, all 4 pages of it, as there are several proposed solutions.

The first one that worked, deleting the MultiTerm template from the Word STARTUP folder, will prevent the error messages but will also remove the ability to use Trados from within Word.

The solution that you should try first is the one by Cris_Pa, of reregistering mscomctl.ocx.

    see the error messages

Winword/safe doesn't show any file nor does Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15\STARTUP

I'm bot sure whether I have any other applications.

I hope these are readable.  If not, let me know if there is another method.  The reply for your email could not be used -- it failed in the outlook program.   ****

    Hi Paul,

As I understand you’re facing issue working with the Microsoft Office Word program.

I would need more information to help you better.

    1. What is the exact error message you receive?
    2. Are you able to work with the other Office applications?
    3. From which Microsoft article you have tried using the Fixit tool?

Try Working in Word safe and check if it helps. To know how to start Outlook in Safe mode, follow the steps below.

Hold the windows key + Letter ‘R’ from the keyboard to launch the Run command > Copy and paste the following command line in the open box and click Ok.

    Winword /safe

If Word safe works as expected, disable the add-ins as suggested below:

    a. Click on File menu.

    b. Click Options.

    c. Click Add-ins.

    d. Click on Go button besides Manage: Com-Add-in.

    e. Check if there are add-ins listed, clear the checkbox to disable them.

    f. Close the Word and restart it.

You may also try clearing the startup folder from the following location and check if it helps:

    C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15\STARTUP

    Or

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClentX86 or ClientX64\Root\Office15\STARTUP

Note: Take the backup of the files before deleting.

Reply to us with the results to help you better.
