How to install Microsoft Excel XX.X Object Library

I have a laptop that I had to replace the HD. I replaced the HD with an SSD where I installed Windows 10 Professional 64-bit.

After I got the OS up and running I installed Microsoft Access 2010. In Access I designed an application where I can select an Excel workbook and have it list the worksheets contained therein.

However, after I loaded the Access database I got the error that the Microsoft Excel 12.0 Object Library was missing (EXCEL.EXE).

So I have a two-fold question:

  1. Why wasn't the EXCEL.EXE installed when I installed Microsoft Access 2010?
  2. I can't find the resource in Tools->References so how do I fix it to make the application operational?

Thanks,

Access and Excel are two seperate applications each had to be installed if you request them. So if you need to interact with Excel workbooks using automation, then you need to install Excel/Office.
