reorder correlation matrix

Dear all,

I have a correlation matrix (30 * 30) in Excel 2013. I want to re-order the variables so that 'similar' (or 'correlated') variables are positioned adjacently. Is there a way to permute the variables (not manually) in Excel? Thanks a lot!

You could write VBA code to do this. First you would need to quantitatively specify what you mean by 'similar', then you would need to move a complete row and/or a complete column, and repeat.

Maybe it would depend on the type of correlated values you have.
