Mobile Office app for android - installation issues

Tried downloading Office Mobile on my Samsung S4.  When I activate it and put in my LIVE password, i get an immediate response "Can't complete task"  "Office Mobile encountered a problem"  "Cancel/retry"  - when i click retry, the app hangs with no success.

I've tried deleting app, redownloading app...

I've confirmed my account on office365 is in good standing and i have 4 installs remaining.

I've confirmed i have plenty of available memory on the phone

I've also confirmed that Office365 support site has essentially handed me off to 3 different locations - all of which cannot help me as i am a  Home Premium user - all of which i've communicated with a first sentence of each step.  My last attempt is to come here....

Can anyone shed light on what is a frustrated user experience thus far..

Appreciate any and all help

Todd

I resolved  the issue by accepting the skydrive terms:

  1. Install the one note app from google play
  2. Start onenote which informed me about skydrive terms to be accepted online.
  3. Open skydrive.com in a browser, login, accept.
  4. Delete the onenote and office mobile cache in the android settings (settings > apps > office mobile )
  5. Verify onenote doesnt display the terms error anymore.
  6. Start office mobile

I wasn’t able to find your “menu” instructions.  When I pressed on the Office Mobile icon and went to the lower left menu button, it only says “send feedback”.

If I go to my toolbox and accounts, I can click Office and have it “remove account”.  I did that…tried to reinstall/reactivate….same failed result.

As mentioned previously, I tried to completely uninstall app and redownload it.  Same error…

    Hi,

    Thank you for the reply.

You must tap Menu to access Office Mobile Settings on the Android Phone. Now Reset Office Mobile from Settings.

Once done, you may remove and re-install Office Mobile.

    Hope this helps.

So far, it appears everyone trying to help with different issues don't recognize the operating controls for the S 4 .

I too have no idea how to accomplish your steps, as nothing I do takes me to these options on my S**4.**But Todd's experience is identical to my own.

    * Download app from Google Play Store as instructed in advertising email.

    * Click install

    * Fill in prompted account email address

    * next screen auto-filled with email address prompts for Microsoft account password (verified mine was correct and current, and have 4 downloads available for Office 365)

    * "working" screen with an orange field then returns the message:

    Can't complete task

    Office Mobile encountered a problem

    Cancel          Retry

    Retry just hangs...

Sure would be nice if Microsoft had the bugs worked out for the THE MOST POWERFUL ANDROID PHONE ON THE MARKET! (arguably)

    Mike

    Yeah, I'm a little perturbed...

    Hi Todd,

You may try to reset Office mobile by doing the following and then check if you can install Office

    • Tap Menu to access Office Mobile settings on Android Phone.
    • Click Reset Office mobile (This will erase all app data  and bring the app to its initial state).
    • Install Mobile Office app and check if the issue occurs.

Hope the information provided is helpful.
