How to change a default setting about encoding when Word opens

When I try to log on to Word, I get a message that says: File Conversion - $Zotero.dot

Select the encoding that makes your document readable.

Text encoding:

Set to Chinese Simplified (GB2312)

It then says that "Word cannot open a document template" in a path in my user app data folder.

Is there a way to get rid of this from appearing each time I open Word2010?

Tried to do a print screen, but it seems not to have copied here.

Any help appreciated.

To troubleshoot add-ins in Word, take a look at the sections that refer to COM and Startup add-ins in the Knowledge Base article at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921541/en-us.

I am having the same problem. I have deleted zotero from everywhere I can find it on my system, to no avail. I do not know how to delete a default Word template and can find no instructions to do so on the Microsoft website (I know I must be overlooking it somehow).

    Using Windows 8.1, Word 2010.

    Help much appreciated!

Actually, I was finally able to locate the corrupt add-on command in the startup instructions for word.

    Thanks!

Delete the default Word template see if that helps. (It will be re-created when Word starts.

Do you use/have need for the Zotero plug-in?

PS In win7 you use the sniping tool, save the result, then when posting your msg see the 'screen' icon in the msg menu bar to upload that saved pic
