Macros are gone...?

Anonymous

Just upgraded to Office 2013

I have a file with several macros in it that I use every month.  when I opened it today, the macros are gone.  Where did they go?

I have other files with macros, and those are still visible and still working... I can't think why this file would be different??'

Thanks!

Julie

    Hi Julie,

Indeed, if you save a workbook with macros as xlsx, then it is saved without macros.

Maybe you can recover the macros.

Goto file, Recent and look for "Recover Unsaved Workbooks"

Or file, options, save, you will see the path to the autorecover folder. Look there.

Or File, manage versions, recover unsaved workbooks.

    Success.

    I think it was .xlsx

I tried "save as" and selected save as type "Excel Macro-Enabled Workbook" and it showed only one file in the folder (which I know contains macros).

So, did Excel 2013 just delete the macros then?  Can I retrieve them somehow?

I'm not sure... how can I tell?  The extensions aren't visible anymore.

    Hi Julie,

Was it an xls workbook that you have saved as xlsx? xlsx cannot contain macro's. Save the original file as xlsm.
