Error Code: 3-1 for Microsoft Office 365

I signed up for Microsoft Office 365 free trial for a month, once I installed it I tried to run the program and it wouldn't open and message popped up saying that "something went wrong" and gave me error code: 3-1. I haven't found any pre-existing solutions so I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this error or even what it means..

Thanks in advance.

See ""Something went wrong" error when you install Office 2013 or Office 365" at:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2827031/en-us

and, if necessary http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2822317

If that does not help, then you might remove all traces of the Office  installation by running the fixit from the following article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501

and then reinstall Office by logging into www.office.com/myaccount with your registered email address and click Install Office.

I've done ALL of that, restarted PC and tried again. Same error code.  When I try to sign into Office online, it rejects my ID and asks for my Office username. It's the SAME thing.  Side note--this was installed and worked just fine.  2 weeks ago, my HDD crashed and PC was sent off for warranty repair. New HDD installed, so now trying to get all my software reinstalled.   I have to have Office to do my jobs.
