Encountered a strange issue when using Word 2016 on Win10.

My task include making screen captures and paste into Word document.

After i switch to my new win10 desktop with word 2016, I often found that i cannot select on the pasted images.

The screen capture success paste to word document, but i cannot select on it.

Every time i have to switch to another apps and back to word 2016 to make the image select-able.

i wonder if anyone have suggestion?

Thanks

Kenny, in case trying safe mode doesn't help:

    • What is the text wrapping setting for the pasted pictures? Is it "in line with text" or one of the other types?
    • I'll guess that you're left-clicking the mouse to try to select a picture. Have you tried the other selection methods, (a) Shift with the left or right arrow key or (b) clicking Home > Select > Select Objects and then clicking the picture?

    Hi Kenny,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Office Community.

Before we proceed, I would require more information to assist you better.

    1. What happens when you try to select pictures? Do you get any error message? If yes, what is the complete error message?
    2. What is the file format of the images?

Let’s start Word in safe mode following steps mentioned below and then try opening a document from within the application and verify the result:

    * Hold Windows key + R.

    * Copy and paste, or type the following command in the Open box, and then press Enter

    Winword /safe

Note: There is a space between Winword and '/'

If Winword works as expected in safe mode, disable the add-ins by following steps mentioned below and determine the problem causing add-in:

    a) Click on File menu, click Options, Add-ins, Go button besides Manage: Com-in Add.

    b) Check if there are add-ins listed, clear the checkbox.

    c) Close the Office program and restart it.

    d) Disable each add-in one at a time, restart the Word, and repeat the above procedure. If the issue reappears again, it will help you to determine which add-in is causing this issue.

Try the suggestions and let us know the result at your earliest convenience.

    Thank you.

    Thank for you reply.

For q1: When i try to select the image, nothing happened, and no dotted line show around the image.

For q2: it just a print screen capture. Hit the Print screen button and paste it on Word.

I haven't go it to safe mode, but already check the Add-in. There is no Add-in being enabled.

I will try to get in the safe mode next time.
