Floating Dropdown Menu

Here is a link to a previous post I made about this same issue. Which seems to have lost traction.

I have narrowed the problem down, but not by much. I have been able to tell that the only cells that are effected are the cells that are selected when the File is closed. And reopened at a later date. Also, the file attached has no Micros or any code but simple formulas.

Drop Down Menu Stuck (Will not go away)

"I have multiple spreadsheets, one with Macros, and some with no extensive formulas; they all are having this problem. And it is happening on multiple computers with windows 8 and 10.

I am getting drop down menus that will not go away. The arrow button stays, like on the image below. 1 and 2 are stuck there. If I click on it, nothing appears in the dropdown menu, like one 1. This just started happening the last couple of weeks to my spread sheets. Haven't changed any formulas or macros in them. They keep appearing. I'll save and come back to the workbook the next day and there will be another stuck dropdown menu.

Any ideas?"

Checked to see what Add-Ins were available and/or running.

The only add-in was the Windows Excel Map viewer, which was not enabled.

    Any other ideas?

    Hi Matt,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Office Community.

We could not access the file. Let's try to open in safe mode, open file within Excel by going to FILE>Open and check if issue persist

    * Hold Windows key + R.

    * Copy and paste, or type the following command in the Open box, and then press Enter

    Excel /safe

Note: There is a space between Excel and '/'. Replace

If Excel works as expected in safe mode, disable the add-ins by following steps mentioned below and determine the problem causing add-in:

    a) Click on File menu, click Options, Add-ins, Go button besides Manage: Com-in Add.

    b) Check if there are add-ins listed, clear the checkbox.

    c) Close the Office program and restart it.

    d) Enable each add-in one at a time, restart the Excel, and repeat the above procedure. If the issue reappears again, it will help you to determine which add-in is causing this issue.

Hope it helps. Keep us posted on the status of the issue and we will be glad to offer our assistance.

    Thank you.
