Numbering Library

Once I have defined my own number style it is stored in the Numbering Library.  I have created hundreds of number styles as I am an attorney and draft all day.

HOW DO I ARRANGE/RESET THE NUMBERING LIBRARY?  Please help!

Every time I click on the numbering list I have options that go on for pages - I can't find any relevant number lists - and the result is I'm constantly having to define new number lists anyway.

It would be very helpful if Word could arrange these defined numbers numerically, alphabetically - or in any way really!

It's quite a mess as is.

I look forward to hearing from you.

As far as I can tell, there is no way to rearrange the number formats that you see for example at Home tab | Multilevel List.

What you can do is reset to the defaults (which may or may not be helpful): Exit Word and then delete the ListGal.dat file in your user profile. (The file may be in a hidden folder, so you first have to enable the display of hidden files and folders in File Explorer.)

Thanks very much for the reply and the suggestion Mr Robbins I do appreciate it; however it doesn't go to answering my question I'm afraid as I still have around 400 various entries in the numbering library and no way to sort them.

What I would be doing is creating a template for each of the numbering schemes that you want to use and then use the appropriate template depending upon what sort of numbering you want in a document.
