Excel changing layout & format when opening files

I'm trying to work on shared files where I am responsible for entering info and some images into the worksheet.

Recently, Excel started changing the format/layout of any file I open. The worksheets are originally set to print out on one page of A4 size paper. If I open the file, it is narrowed and stretched longer, spilling over onto a second page. Text no longer fits in boxes it should, and images are squashed and stretched as well. If I place an image on the sheet on my computer and save the file  it is elongated and stretched out when others open it and all the format/layout is back the way it is supposed to look, so it's just my computer that is making this change. I've not made any changes to any options, so no idea why it suddenly started doing this.

I've tried clicking on borders, paper size, format and layout options with no luck.

Update: After a week of messing around trying to fix this, I think I found the solution 2 minutes after posting this question. Adjusting language settings in Microsoft Office seems to have fixed the problem in regard to files opening differently on my computer compared to everyone else's. Of course, now all my Office programs are in Japanese so good luck on my part finding/using anything beyond the most basic functions.
