Multiple Domains vs. Postmaster domain

Hi there,

I'm currently in the better end of a transition to office365. There are currently set up 3 domains, that are accessed by my users:

company1.com (primary domain)

company2.com

company3.com

After the migration of emails, I wanted to create rules to block certain attachments - and this also went well. But i noticed that the NDR always contains the postmaster-address from the primary domain. If someone sends an email with a blocked attachment to *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, the NDR is sent from *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. If someone sends an email to a non-existing mailbox on the domain company2.com (or company3.com), the NDR is also sent from *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

Due to our company structure this shall be avoided. How can this be done correctly?

Best regards

Bo

    Hi,

I solved it with this command in Powershell:

Set-TransportConfig -ExternalPostmasterAddress *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

Yes, using the Microsoft domain works. Better that one, than the other internal company domain.

    Hi Bo,

When we use transport rule to block a message, the domain for postmaster of the NDR will be our default domain by default. In Office 365, it is not feasible to change the domain for postmaster according to the recipient’s domain.

I understand it would be nice if we have this feature in Office 365. Therefore, I suggest you submit feedback about the feature via the link below:
