Microsoft word not installing

Hi,

Purchased Microsoft Word 2016 (ONLY Word, not Office) On Tuesday, 11/10. Tried numerous times throughout the week to install, but the page fails to initialize the install. I either get, "We are loading page...page is taking longer than expected to load" when I go to the link in my email, or the install button just doesn't start the install.

I then went to https://setup.office.com/downloadoffice/ and entered the product key provided in my email. It said product key not valid. Awesome. Paid for product, still not able to use product.

Things I have tried:

  1. Contacting Microsoft on the phone. They said: servers are acting funny, try back later. Great help, as this process has now taken a duration of 4 days.
  2. Uninstalling the trial version of Office automatically loaded on the computer, that was never used.
  3. Enabling pop ups, disabling add-ons
  4. Clearing temporary internet files.

To top it off, my laptop does not have a CD drive. Otherwise I would have just canceled this purchase and gone out to buy the physical version. Please help. I am beyond frustrated.

Try the steps below and check if it helps:

Step 1:

Press the Ctrl + Alt+ Delete keys to open the Task Manager and go to the  Processes tab and look for integratedoffice.exe. If you find it, then click on End Process.

You may also run the fix it from the following article to remove the integratedoffice.exe from the registry as well:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2809219

Step 2:

When the installation fails there would be some files and folders copied to the computer, so run the fix it mentioned in the link below to remove the traces of Office completely from the computer and then try to reinstall the Office program:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501

Step 3:

You could also try start the computer in Clean Boot as detailed in the article

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

and try to install Office 365 program.

Note: Once the troubleshooting is done, ensure to restart the computer in normal mode.

In Clean boot mode all startup programs and 3rd party services on the computer will be disabled and starting the computer in this way may prevent conflicts with the installation of the software.

For the error "Office can't do that right now because your product is busy with another task" error when installing Office 2013 or Office 365" see:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2809219/en-us

See "General troubleshooting for installing Office 2013 and Office 365" at:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2822317/en-us

See ""Something went wrong" error when you install Office 2013 or Office 365" at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2827031/en-us

and, if necessary http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2822317 If that does not help, then you might remove all traces of the Office  installation by downloading and saving the fixit from the following article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501

and then run the fixit by double clicking on it and then, after re-booting your computer, reinstall Office by logging into www.office.com/myaccountwith your registered email address and click Install Office.

If you have a valid product key for Office, you can download a backup installation file from https://products.office.com/en-us/download-back-up-restore-microsoft-office-products?tab=ForPC.

Recent versions of Office 2016, especially subscriptions, are usually managed via http://www.office.com/myaccount.

To purchase Office, go to https://products.office.com/en-us/compare-all-microsoft-office-products?tab=1.
