Basically I want to use the access search box in the navigation bar to search one field to change the record details regardless of which field is currently selected.

Been searching forums and the web yet to find a answer that didn't involve creating a new text box/field or button on the form. is this possible at all?

I can select the field and search but trying to make the form a little more intuitive for the user.

The Search at the top of the Navigation Pane is for the database Objects showing in the Navigation Pane.  If you want to search a groups of records you will have to create your own and place it directly on the Form.

the form I wanted to use it on was continuous the screens the users have is of a small resolution it would have saved on space only required one search field the other to edit. The users are labours for the most part so PC skills are limited to say the least.

    Hi,

there is no way to restrict the scope of the form's search box. So you definitely would have to create your own text box.

I would not consider it very intuitive for the general search box to only search the control/field where the cursor had been before he had to set it into the search box itself. It is in a different section of the form with no visual connection to a particular control.

In addition many users already are aware of Ctrl+F from almost any application/environment. They don't have to leave the current control and in Access the default setting in the search (dialog) is to be limited to the current control...
