The input string is too long

I am using Access 2016.

I am attempting to use the "Build" function in the "Criteria" line of a Query.

No matter what database I am in I get the error below.

Any Idea what could be causing this?

    At what point do you get the error? When selecting Build from the popup menu or when attempting to insert an expression into your query?

    Can we assume you can build queries without the builder?

    It happens when selecting from the popup menu

    It appears I could build a querie without the builder, but I would like to use the builder to insure I do it correctly.

    I assume the same happens when you choose the builder from the ribbon. I don't have 2016 so I can't test. I haven't used the builder in a while.

    Yes, same happens with ribbo.

    I assume it is something in the settings, but I cant find anything...
