I need to embed .zip file into Excel, but every time I do so, the following error message appears:

Embedding .doc files work fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

That is to be expected. Despite the fact that it gives a different impression, Object Linking & Embedding [OLE] in Mac Excel does not support embedding of any types of files other than those listed in the Insert> Object dialog... basically, Word document files. [That's in addition to Media files, but they're handled differently using the corresponding Insert menu listings for Picture (includes PDF), Audio, & Movie.]

    Hi Bob.

I was able to embed .zip and .rar files in Excel 2013 running on Windows, so I was expecting the same result for Mac. Thanks for the explanation.
